The Hunters Creek Neighborhood
Association is sponsoring a pet documentation event from
8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 15 at the Hunters Creek Community
Center, 3630 Hunters Circle. The event will officially
kick off a free online registry service aimed at reuniting
lost pets and their owners.
Though directed toward residents
in the Hunters Creek area, the registry is open to all.
It can be accessed at www. hunterscreeksatx.org.
Animal Care Services will have
adoptable cats and dogs at Saturday's event. The Humane
Society/SPCA of Bexar County will be on hand with microchips
for pet ID, registry forms will be available and photographers
will be on hand to take pet photos for the registry's
file.
Allie Woodhouse, a 12-year-old
seventh-grader at Jackson Middle School, launched the
pet registry about two months ago, and it has recently
gone online. To date, nine animals have been returned
to their owners through registry efforts.
